RCW 46.61.145 FOLLOWING TOO CLOSELY

The driver of a motor vehicle shall not follow another vehicle more closely than is reasonable and prudent, with regard to the speed of the preceding vehicle, the traffic and the condition of the highway.

The driver of a truck or motor vehicle that is pulling another vehicle and following another truck or motor vehicle pulling another vehicle, shall leave sufficient space so than overtaking vehicle may enter a space without danger.

Drivers of motor vehicles shall allow sufficent space between their vehicle or a combination of vehicles so that other vehicles can enter the roadway without danger. This does not apply to funeral processions.
