Bordering CitiesBordering cities include Kirkland (north), Redmond (north east), Mercer Island, Issaquah (east), Renton (south) and Newcastle (south east). West Bellevue borders the so called "Gold Coast" cities and towns of Medina, Clyde Hill, Hunts Point, and Yarrow Point.
Bellevue, Washington is located in King County and encompasses 31 square miles. It is the fourth largest city in the State. Located between Lake Sammamish to the east and Lake Washington to the West, "Bellevue" means beautiful view in French and it is sometimes called "city in a forest." The city has some amazing vistas of the Cascade and Olympic mountain ranges and, on clear days, Mount Rainier towers above the landscape. The 2000 census calculated the population at 109,569 but it is estimated that in 2006 the population had increased to 118,186.
Major highways in Bellevue are the Interstate 90 which connects Bellevue to Mercer Island and Seattle heading west and Spokane and eventually Boston, to the East. Washington State Route 520 runs east and west in Bellevue and connects Bellevue on the northern end to Seattle and Redmond. Interstate 405 is a bypass of Seattle which runs North and South through Bellevue.
SchoolsBellevue has a highly acclaimed school district and is the home to Bellevue Senior High, Interlake, Newport, Sammamish, International and Robinswood High Schools. City University and Bellevue College both have campuses in Bellevue.

AttractionsBellevue has more than 100 parks and other recreational facilities. The numerous beach parks along Lake Washington and Lake Sammamish offer swimming areas with life guards in the summer. The Bellevue Botanical Gardens has many display gardens and seasonal light displays.
Other attractions include the Bellevue Arts Museum in downtown Bellevue, KidsQuest Children's Museum and the Rosalie Whyel Museum of Doll Art. Festivals include the Strawberry Festival and the annual Bellevue Festival of the Arts.
