A Trauma Center is a hospital emergency room equipped to give emergency medical services to patients with traumatic and life-threatening injuries due to accidents including car accidents, falls, construction accidents, drownings, and assaults or violent attacks.
Traumatic injuries may require complex and multi-disciplinary treatment. Many traumatic victims may have multiple serious injuries and require emergency surgery and intensive care.

Overlake Hospital Emergency & Trauma Center is a Level II trauma center in Bellevue which provides emergency resuscitation, surgery and intensive care of trauma patients and serves as a back-up to Harborview in case of a regional disaster or large-scale emergency.
